Yeh Zindagi, Na Milega Doobara...

Agar zindagi sab ko yun hi hassati,
toh shayad assoonon ke namkiniya ko nahi jaante hum.

Ya phir agar zindagi sab ko yun hi rulati,
toh shayad hassi ki mithas ko nahi pehchante hum.

Aasmanon mein jab bhi kaale badal chahe hote hai,
toh unme se bhi nikal aata hai ek umeed, ujali subha ki.

Ya phir uss mod ki baat karein, jo acche ke liye rukh badal deti hai,
Aur le aati hai apne saat, nayi aashayein ki manzile

Shayad isliye bane hai hum, ke jiye hum,
haste, gaate aur kabhi kabar rote bhi.

Iss ehsaas ko kehte hai hum jeena.
Aur jeena hai khulke, Ab waqt hai humara..
Kyunki Yeh Zindagi, Na Milega Doobara

Off Weighty Issues

Take some time out, as you read what I write, and think back of the moment you last met someone after while, barring the towns and villages, the new fad of greeting seems to have shifted to ‘OMG look at you, you have put on WEIGHT’ (that’s really the last thing the person would want to hear) or ‘OMG look at you, you have lost so much of weight (and to take the credit from your actual weight loss the sentence continues with) are you keeping well’? Seriously have we really forgotten the ‘What’s up’.

You might feel that this one’s not for me, but come to think of it, at some point in time it will be an eventuality. Now I ain’t trying to throw my weight around proving a point, but it’s that thought, which weighs on my mind, making me wonder that if it’s really worth weighing something so trivial, that every ounce of your life, is a pound and more…

Till recently, the fad I hear was size: zero and now add to that a new dimension call sub-zero!!! Aarrghh who in hell really comes up with these… Now I may sound a bit heavy about what I am talking, but let me clarify that I ain’t against being healthy and hearty, I am just pressing on the fact that we tend to give too much importance to the wrong things/ways.

For once can we then look at the person within and not outside and even if we do, lets realize that it’s not about the weight, it’s about ‘what’; to be more precise ‘What’s Up’. And in-case we do forget, our best friends; Facebook and Twitter are always there to remind us; as even they ask; what’s on your mind??? And what are you doing??? Respectively. Thank God for Facebook and Twitter, at least they don’t throw their weight around... :P

Social Media Blah Blah Blah…

Social Media has been around for some time now, perhaps it all began with a site called Myspace that tried to create a space on the internet wherein it could bring people to socialize online, but this was more in the west, which also led many a techie’s to come up with many a sites especially the mainstream social networking sites of today like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to name a few.

Back home in India, there was this rage called Orkut a few years ago, which off course was and still is a western development, that turned even the local chaiwala internet savvy in the all good hope of socializing online. With this social space getting crowded and routine, there came an advent of migration and the numbers of the so called happening space of Orkut, now moved the a new identity called ‘The Facebook’ which eventually changed too, just as we know it now, Facebook. And this phenomenon still reins supreme of the social networking arena, with 700 Million registered users, FB (as the referred acronym) has changed the online game, along with other popular Social Networking sites, it has been a major contributor and has created a whole new dimension called Social Media.

So what exactly is this social media?
Now we all the technical definition of the medium carrying the message, and that’s what exactly Facebook, Twitter and all other social networking site do, they help in carrying a message to its end user. So who are these users; well to begin with, they are people just like you and me. And it’s these people who are spending their time on these sites thus being part in creating value for them. So out of all the habits the modern day man has continued to persist, they very new one seems partaking in this online social extravaganza. To be more precise, sharing what’s on his or her mind, or tweeting a quote that seems close to the philosophy that he or she shares, or perhaps writing a recommendation for a colleague. Whatever is the action, it’s happening in the now and it’s happening on either or any of a social networking site.

SOCIAL MEDIA: The Real Thing.
Now in all that’s said above, its sounds more of whatever you’ve probably heard or even know. And for the part that perhaps might be in the known yet for reasons not so obvious be unknown.

To begin with Social Media is definitive, it exists because you and I want it to exist, and we do it because it gives us that space to say what perhaps we might seldom say otherwise.

It creates inroads into knowing people’s lives that perhaps might have never been known, like the coming of age of closet poetess, whose regular updates were lines she never would have shared, and in doing so it’s given her acceptance and identity.

It’s given people the power to connect, that which was out of reach and miles apart is now just a tweet or comment away. And although like many other mediums there will be fatigue and routine, but re-invention like any other from time to time and the human need to say; this is me, proves that social media is more than just tweets, pokes, updates and is here to stay.

One Life to Live

Although we know it and probably are always yelling it out in an explanatory tone in most cases to someone close, that, we have just 'one life to live' and we wanna live it well.... The point in question is; Do we really do it? or are we just lead into this thought process of how it should be and end up not doing what we really intend too.

'The lost soul searches... searches for something to call its own' (i just came up with this...)

The basic human need (in the broader sense) is that of being loved and without it, we live our lives in the state of mind called 'loneliness', I refer to loneliness as a state of mind, cos come to think of it, even at a party with so many people around, your mind still wanders, to be elsewhere or to be with someone else or whatever runs in your mind and I am not saying it happens with everyone, it does, maybe to a few or in some cases more of us, but all we'll ever do to make it right is do as we're told or influenced by, seldom do we listen to that voice deep down there, for if we do, then we pondering over what others will think about the same.

The good part of life is; we all get to live.
The not so good part is; we're not going to come out alive.

So what can one really do to live that life well; Perhaps to begin with take time to oneself (which we seldom do) and slowly start to listening to that voice within, because that voice knows your soul, and knowing your soul is knowing your true self, and your true self can only be beautiful, because if it weren't then, the most basic need (in the broader sense) would never be love. And so why shouldn't that inner beauty be seen, known and loved for what it really is. Why the make up of perception from the outer reign. Perhaps these few lines running thru my head should sum them all up:

You were born to make each day count,
So live it up, cos ur not paying an amount.
For its a gift from the hand that giveth,
That life was given only once to liveth.

Cheers :)

Be Willing To Learn...

As any normal day I opened my mail box today to check em.. and other than a few random emails, I got this fwd titled as "be willing to learn..." and it caught my attention more than usual so, I decided to read em... ( I don't read fwd emails usually) I opened and read it and it made me smile...

The best things in life are so simple... So here is the story that I wanna share;

Be Willing To Learn...

One truck driver was doing his usual load delivery at a mental hospital, by parking his vehicle beside an open drain. He discovered a flat tyre when he was about to return from the mental hospital. He jacked up the truck and removed the flat tyre to fix the spare tyre.

When he was about to fix the spare tyre, he accidentally dropped all the 4 bolts in the open drain. As he cannot fish the bolts in the open drain, he started to panic as to what should be done?

Just then, one patient happened to walk past him and asked the driver as to why he was looking troubled. The driver thought to himself, since there is nothing much he can do or this mental joker can.Just to keep the bugging away, the truck driver informed the whole episode to the mental patient and gave a helpless look.

The patient just laughed at the truck driver and said you just cannot even fix such a simple problem? "No wonder you are destined to remain a truck driver for life".

The truck driver was astonished to hear such a compliment from a mental guy. "Here is what you can do" said the mental guy... "take one bolt from each of the remaining 3 tyres / wheels and fix it on to this tyre. Then drive down to the nearest workshop and replace the missing ones. Isn't it simple my friend".

The truck driver was so impressed with this quick fix answer and asked the patient "How come you are so smart and intelligent and you are here at the mental hospital?"
The patient replied "Hello friend! I stay here because I am crazy but not stupid".

No wonder, there are some people, who behave like the Truck Driver, thinking that others are just stupid. So, guys, though you all are learned and wise, but, just watch out, there could be some CRAZY guys in our professional / personal lives, who could give us lot of quick fixes and brush our wisdom.

There's something about the Rains...

As I woke up this morning it was cooler than usual, the last few days have been terribly hot… but today was different, the morning was quite pleasant, in fact there was one thought running on my mind, “did it rain?”
It’s that time of the year wherein everyone (in India) is eagerly awaiting the rains, after all the weather is one of the few the things not liked hot, and the rains come in, bringing comfort from the torrid temperatures. Talking about rains, it’s a complete mood changer, in fact just the sound of it brings a feeling of glee, imagine then the joys of getting drenched, and that’s all I did growing up, playing football and getting wet in the rain… it was simply awesome, but then as time passed by, the rains have stopped being as exciting for me for many a reasons; to begin with I live in Mumbai and this over populated city is being pushed to its brink, I still have memories the 26/7 floods that happened a few years back, that almost changed my likeness for the rains, in fact just this morning, I read that the BMC doesn’t really have enough of time to clear the nullahs in the city, which only means, that on high tide day if it rains, Mumbai city could be drowning again. Another point to make is the travel, with the city infrastructure in an overhaul mode, traveling within the city which is a task any which ways, during the rains becomes a dare. As trains are perpetually late, the roads get jammed with crawling vehicles and not much place for a walking pedestrian as the roads are clogged with water. Just the thought of all this is putting me off, but I woke up this morning all happy because I thought it rained.
So what do I do now, perhaps, soak up on some pleasantries’ of the rains, the mushy mood it brings along and the appetite to munch on hot food. I think the rains like everything else in this world has two sides; good and bad. While everything is accepted the way it is. I think I look forward to the rains in the same way as I did growing up, saying to myself “Rain Rain come again and come soon”. ;)
